What is Reiki?
Reiki (pronounced “Ray-Key”) is a Japanese word meaning
“Universal life force energy”. Rei means universal and Ki means life force energy.
Reiki is a natural healing therapy that is non-intrusive and involves the
laying on of hands to channel the energy. Reiki is a life force energy and flows through us all like electricity flowing through
a wire. The energy is often felt by the practitioner and client as warmth and a tingling feeling that calms and relaxes. Reiki
helps to relieve stress, physical pain and discomfort, emotional and behavioural issues.
The Reiki practitioner is essentially a channel for the Reiki energy, which
the recipient draws to themselves through the hands of the practitioner. Energy will naturally flow the area requiring healing
in exactly the right quantity and at exactly the right frequency. The body is then able to heal itself. Energy blocks are
released and natural balance is restored. Reiki is a very powerful therapy, outwardly very subtle in its application but inwardly
very profound.
During a session the practitioner will lay their hands on or slightly above
various parts of the body. Healers are often able to sense where the energy is needed and will focus on those specific areas.
There is no manipulation of the skin or muscle and is completely non-invasive.
